Regina police alert parents after needle-like metal found in Halloween candy

Police in Regina are asking parents to inspect their children’s Halloween candy after a report of possible tampering in the city’s east end.

In an advisory sent late Friday night, Regina police said someone had contacted them after finding a chocolate bar in their child’s Halloween candy that appeared to have a piece of thin metal, similar to a needle, inside it.

The caller told police that they noticed a small hole in the wrapper and when they unwrapped it, they found the piece of metal stuck inside the candy.

According to police, the family had been trick or treating in the Greens on Gardiner neighbourhood, specifically near Green Moss Lane, Green Bank Road, Green Apple Drive, Green Water Drive, Green Spruce Place and Green Brook Road.

Police are asking residents to carefully check all Halloween treats before eating them and to report anything suspicious by calling 306-777-6500.
