Two major construction projects are now underway in downtown Regina which will alter driving routes for the foreseeable future.
Sections of 11th Avenue between Albert Street and Broad Street are now closed, as the 11th Avenue Revitalization Project moves into its third year.
Much of the Regina Transit stops have been moved to Victoria Avenue, 12th Avenue, Lorne Street and Albert Street.
Many Regina Transit users were surprised by the route changes downtown.
“I’m so used to going to one spot, and the times that buses come. It’s sort of a rush to get to one place or another,” noted one transit user.
Another resident told CTV News that their routine has been altered by the construction but sees the overall project as a positive for the City of Regina.
“The city does have to make improvements, so we have to close off streets. It’s a very minor inconvenience and it will be back to normal soon,” they explained.
Work on the Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project will also be picked back up this week – beginning the final stretch of the two-year project.

The section between Albert Street and Broad Street will be shut down until October.
Lance Donison is the executive director of the Regina Warehouse Business Improvement District. He said Dewdney Avenue is closed, but the businesses in the area are not.
“We got to ensure we do our best to make everyone aware that they are open. Parking is available,” he noted.
Donison continued saying the neighborhood is hopeful of the future and what the new construction will do for the area.
