Pedestrian killed by vehicle on Quinte West highway

Ontario Provincial Police say a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Quinte West Saturday evening.

In a news release, police say officers were called to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian on Old Highway 2 just west of Montrose Road at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s from Belleville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not identify him. No charges or arrests were announced.

Old Highway 2 was closed between Aikins Road and Montrose Road for several hours as OPP investigated the collision. It has since reopened.
