Warmer-than-normal temperatures expected in Ottawa during the last weekend of February

Ottawa residents will enjoy some relief from the minus double-digit low temperatures this weekend, with warmer-than-normal temperatures in the forecast for the final weekend of February.

It was -12 C at 6 a.m., with the wind chill making it feel like -21.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for daytime highs of -4 C on Saturday and Sunday and 1 C on Monday, while overnight lows will be -9 C Saturday night and -6 C on Sunday night.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -3 C and a low of -12 C.

It will be mainly cloudy today with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. High -9 C.

Clear overnight. Low -17 C, with the wind chill making it feel like -24.

Saturday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of afternoon flurries. High -4 C.

The outlook for Sunday calls for cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. High -4 C.

Monday will be mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. High 1 C.

Snowy February

Ottawa received 2.2 cm of snow on Thursday, bringing the February snowfall total to 95.6 cm.

This is Ottawa’s snowiest month since January 2023, when Ottawa received 96.5 cm.

Ottawa received 15.2 cm of snow in February 2024 and 75.8 cm in February 2023.
