Ottawa police bust illegal cannabis dispensary on Montreal Road

The Ottawa Police Service says officers seized a significant quantity of cannabis products from an illegal dispensary in Vanier earlier this week.

An investigation began in January into a dispensary operating outside provincial regulations in the 100 block of Montreal Road. Police issued a notice of contravention to the property owner in February, ordering the business to close. Despite this, it continued to operate, police said.

Officers searched the property on Tuesday, seizing various cannabis and tobacco products and cash.

No arrests were announced.

“The Ottawa Police Service reminds residents that cannabis may only be sold through retailers authorized under Ontario law,” police said in a news release on Thursday.
