Ottawa Fire Services says a firefighter was injured while dealing with a fire in the Golden Triangle Wednesday morning.

Fire crews responded to a home on Park Avenue at around 5:48 a.m. when a neighbour called 9-1-1 to report black smoke and flames coming from the window of a home.

The house was confirmed to be under renovations and unoccupied, but while firefighters were inside battling the blaze, one fell through a hole in the floor. The injured firefighter was transported to hospital, but has since been released and is doing well, according to Ottawa Fire Services.

The fire was under control by 6:23 a.m. What caused it is under investigation.

Roof of home in rural west Ottawa collapses

Tuesday night, firefighters were sent to a home on Donald B. Munro Drive after a neighbour called 9-1-1 to report visible flames.

The home is in a rural area that has no fire hydrants, so firefighters set up a water shuttle system to have our tanker trucks bring water to the scene from a nearby water source.

The owner of the home was not present when fire crews arrived just after 9:30 p.m. It took until 2 a.m. to get the fire under control, but the roof of the home collapsed two-and-a-half hours later because of the damage.

No one was reported hurt.
