A Fuchsia pink cane and a physics test were among the things left behind in Ottawa’s Uber vehicles last year.
Uber Canada has released its annual ‘Lost and Found Index’, looking at the most unique items left behind in Uber vehicles last year.
The most commonly forgotten items in an Uber were a phone, wallet, backpack, keys, headphones, glasses and clothing.
“As expected, phones and wallets made the list of the most commonly forgotten items this year,” Uber Canada said. “But riders aren’t just leaving behind everyday essentials—they’re forgetting everything from musical instruments like snare drums and pianos to unique items such as gold teeth.”
Uber Canada says among the most unique items lost in Canada were a physics test and a Fuchsia pink cane in Ottawa. Someone in Toronto left behind a snare drum, while another rider in Canada’s largest city left behind a cat urine sample.
A rider in Vancouver forgot their grandparents in an Uber, according to the ride-share company.
Ottawa ranked as one of the three least forgetful cities in Canada, along with Toronto and Calgary. Lethbridge was the most forgetful city for Uber riders in Canada, followed by Kelowna, Victoria and Windsor.
According to Uber Canada, the most forgetful days of the year in 2024 were New Year’s Day and Father’s Day.
Uber says the best way to retrieve a lost item from an Uber is to call the driver.
“If you leave your phone itself in your car, you can login to your account on a computer,” Uber said.
“Please note there is a $20 fee to get your items returned, and that fee goes entirely to the driver because of the inconvenience of returning the item.”
