Minor injuries reported after multi-vehicle crash in Ottawa’s south end

The Ottawa Police Service continues to investigate a multi-vehicle crash in the city’s south end Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a call for a collision in the 5300 block of Bank Street, south of Rideau Road, at 4:40 p.m.

According to Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Nick DeFazio, firefighters confirmed the primary collision involved a pickup truck and a cube van.

“After the collision, the cube van continued north and struck three parked vehicles that were occupied,” DeFazio said on X.

Firefighters used specialized tools to open the front passenger side door of the pickup truck to rescue a passenger, who was trapped inside.

“Firefighters assessed and treated multiple occupants in both vehicles,” DeFazio said.

A police spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the investigation into the collision is ongoing.

“Although there was significant damage to the vehicles, only minor injuries were reported,” police said in an email.
