Mild temperatures today, 2-4 cm of snow in Ottawa on Election Day

Ottawa will enjoy another day of above-seasonal temperatures on Wednesday, but snow is in the forecast as people head to the polls Thursday to vote in the Ontario election.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for 2 to 4 centimetres of snow during the day on Thursday, and the weather agency warns Ottawa could see 5 to 10 centimetres of snow between 12 a.m. Thursday and 12 a.m. Friday.

Ottawa will see a mix of sun and cloud today with a 40 per cent chance of morning flurries. High 3 C.

Mainly cloudy tonight with a 40 per cent chance of flurries overnight. Low -5 C, with the wind chill making it feel like -9.

Environment Canada says it will be cloudy to start on Thursday, with periods of snow beginning in the morning. High 1 C.

Friday will see a mix of sun and cloud. High -8 C.

The outlook for Saturday calls for cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of snow. High -6 C.

Sunday will be sunny. High -6 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -2 C and a low of -11 C.

Melting snow

The warm temperatures this week have helped melt some of the snow on the ground in Ottawa.

According to Environment Canada, there is 80 centimetres of snow on the ground at the Ottawa Airport on Wednesday, down from 89 cm on Sunday.

The temperature warmed up to 5.8 C on Monday and 4.6 C on Tuesday.
