Man accused of threatening Carleton Place, Ont. coffee shop workers facing additional charges in Ottawa

Ontario Provincial Police say a Carleton Place man who was charged last month in connection with threats to a local coffee shop is facing new charges in Ottawa.

The man was arrested Feb. 24 in Carleton Place and charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm, criminal harassment, and harassing communications.

On Thursday, the OPP said additional charges were laid following an investigation in partnership with the Ottawa Police Service, related to alleged threats made against unspecified businesses in Ottawa.

The man is now charged with five counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, four counts of criminal harassment and four counts of harassing communications. OPP said these charges relate to both the incidents in Carleton Place and the incidents in Ottawa.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in a Perth courtroom Friday.
