Firefighter injured while battling fire in Ottawa’s Little Italy

Investigators are searching for the cause of an early morning fire in a building in Ottawa’s Little Italy.

The Ottawa Fire Services says 9-1-1 received a call at 4:30 a.m. reporting a fire in a single-family home on Preston Street, south of the Queensway.

Flames were visible from the building when firefighters arrived on scene.

“Firefighters initiated a fast attack and advanced a hose line inside the structure,” Ottawa fire said, adding no one was found inside the building.

The fire was declared under control at 4:45 a.m.

A firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
