A 33-year-old Cornwall man faces nearly a dozen charges related to the alleged possession of child pornography and child luring, according to the Cornwall Police Service.
Police say an investigation began in February as a direct result of Project Steel, a nationwide operation to tackle online child exploitation.
An investigation revealed the man was allegedly in possession of, had access to and distributed child pornography. It is also alleged he lured youths under the age of 18 and agreed to commit a sexual offence against a minor.
The man was arrested at the Cornwall police headquarters on March 25, police say.
He faces 11 charges relating to the distribution, access and possession of child pornography. The charges also include five counts of luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication.
The charges have not been proven in court.
The man was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
More than 100 people have been apprehended, and more than 300 charges have been laid nationwide as a result of Project Steel, according to the RCMP.
