Victim left with life-threatening injuries in vicious Kirkland Lake assault

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 47-year-old man with aggravated assault following an incident Thursday morning that sent one person to hospital.

A 47-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault following an early morning incident Thursday in Kirkland Lake.

Ontario Provincial Police and EMS responded at 6:35 a.m. to a disturbance at a residence on Government Road.

“One person was arrested, while another individual was transported to the local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries by EMS,” police said in a news release.

“Residents of the area should expect to continue to see a police presence.”

The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice later Thursday.

“The investigation is in the early stages and no further details can be released at this time,” police said.

“The OPP would like to advise the public that this was an isolated event and there are no safety concerns to the public.”
