Three arrested in northern Ontario drug bust, $50K in drugs seized: OPP

A northern woman and two men from southern Ontario are facing multiple charges after a drug bust in Moosonee on Wednesday.

Three people are facing drug trafficking charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a residence in Moosonee, seizing suspected cocaine, fentanyl and more than $12,000 in cash.

On Wednesday evening at about 7:30 p.m., James Bay OPP officers raided a home on Hutchison Road as part of a drug investigation.

Police said authorities confiscated suspected fentanyl and cocaine along with four digital scales, packaging materials, five cellular phones and about $12,740 in cash.

OPP said the drug seized had “an estimated street value of $50,000.”

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Moosonee woman, a 35-year-old man from Listowel and a 28-year-old man from Toronto were each charged with two counts of drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All of the accused remain in custody and are set to appear in court April 4.
