Police seize $115K in fentanyl, cocaine, other drugs in Attawapiskat First Nation

More than $115,000 in fentanyl, meth, cocaine and oxycodone were seized on Airport Road in Attawapiskat after a woman attempted entry into the community.

A 32-year-old woman has been charged after police received a tip April 22 that someone was trying to bring a large quantity of drugs into Attawapiskat First Nation.

“Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Attawapiskat First Nation detachment received a call for service from community peacekeepers regarding an incident on Airport Road,” police said in a news release April 24.

“When police officers arrived on scene, they learned that a female had attempted to enter the community with illicit drugs. A female suspect was identified, located, and arrested without incident at the scene.”

Police recovered drugs believed to be fentanyl, meth, cocaine and Oxycodone tablets with a street value of $115,000.

The woman is charged with drug trafficking and has been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
