OPP investigate suspicious death in northwestern Ont. First Nation

Police responded to a call for service March 27 at a location near Airport Road, the OPP said in a news release Saturday.

“The individual was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene,” the OPP said.

The victim has been identified as Douglas Turtle, 50, of Pikangikum First Nation. A post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.

“The OPP North West crime unit is continuing to investigate, under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation branch, with assistance from OPP forensic identification services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner,” police said.

“Members of the public can expect to see a large police presence in the area as the investigation continues.”
