A woman in North Bay has been charged with manslaughter in the 2024 drug overdose death of another woman when both were in jail.

A 38-year-old North Bay woman has been charged with manslaughter for supplying another woman with drugs that killed her while both were in jail.

The North Bay Police Service said they decided to lay the charges after an “extensive investigation” into the 2024 overdose death.

“On Oct. 28, 2024, while both the accused and victim were in custody at the North Bay Jail on unrelated charges, the accused supplied illegal drugs to the victim, who died after consuming the drugs,” police said in a news release Monday.

Was on probation

“The victim in this incident is Taylor Godfrey, who was 33 years old at the time of her death.”

The woman accused of supplying the drugs is charged with one count each of manslaughter, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was charged with manslaughter on March 27 and was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
