The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are urging northern Ontario residents to secure their homes and vehicles following reports of suspicious activity in Powassan, Ont., this week.
OPP said an unknown person was seen opening a screen door at an Elm Street residence around 4 a.m. on April 2. Later that night, at approximately 10 p.m., one or possibly two individuals were observed roaming near homes on Birch Street, peering into windows and attempting to open doors.
Authorities are reminding the public to lock doors and windows and report any suspicious behaviour.
“Lock it or lose it,” wrote OPP in a related social media post.
Police are asking anyone with security footage, information about the incidents, or who may have been targeted in a break-in to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
