Cash and drugs seized in Kapuskasing, two locals charged

Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant this week in Kapuskasing, where they found $4,000 in drugs and $31,000 in cash.

The raid took place at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 6 at a residence on Byng Avenue in the community.

“During the investigation, officers arrested two individuals and seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, and hydromorphone, with an estimated street value of $4,000,” police said in a news release Friday.

“Police also seized an expandable baton, digital scales, packaging materials, and approximately $31,000 in Canadian currency.”

Two suspects ages 49 and 61 have been charged with several drug trafficking offences. The 49-year-old was also charged with breaching probation and remains in custody ahead of a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Friday.

The 61-year-old was released with a court date of April 14 in Kapuskasing.
