1 in hospital as police investigate allegations of man threatening people with weapon

A man is in hospital after being attacked in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough early Thursday morning.

This comes after Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 2:30 a.m. about a man allegedly waving a blunt object and making threatening remarks to passersby on Monk Boulevard near Parc Garneau Street.

“A victim was found unconscious on the ground with injuries to the upper body,” said Johany Charland, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

She explains the victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.

“According to the initial information, the suspect allegedly struck the victim to the upper body with a blunt object,” said Charland. “The suspect then allegedly fled in a vehicle before police arrived.”

The investigation is ongoing.
