Montreal police said that they have arrested a third suspect in the killing of a 73-year-old grandmother and her granddaughter, 22, in 2022.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested for a 2022 double-murder that left a grandmother and her granddaughter dead in Montreal’s Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood.

It is the third arrest in the case after two men, aged 18 and 23, were arrested in November 2023.

They were both charged with first-degree murder.

On Dec. 15, 2022, police reported that 911 calls prompted officers to head to the intersection of Mullins and Charlevoix streets where they found two women — 73-year-old Huguette Maranda Racette and 22-year-old Jade Racette Beaulieu — in their apartment on Mullins Street with gunshot wounds.

“The older victim was pronounced dead on the spot, while the younger woman was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries,” the SPVM said in a news release at the time.

The deaths of deaths were the 37th and 38th homicides of the 66 police reported in 2022.

The third suspect was arrested in Terrebonne on Sunday and appeared at the Montreal courthouse on Monday.

Court records show that Kyanna Richmond is facing charges of manslaughter and conspiracy to escape.
