Where are they? Multiple teenagers have gone missing from Greater Montreal

Multiple teenagers have gone missing from the Greater Montreal area in the last few weeks, with numerous police forces working to determine what happened to them.

Camila Benjamin

The 16-year-old was last seen on Feb. 2 at 8:15 p.m. by a friend as she walked into the McGill Metro station in downtown Montreal on her way home to Laval, on the north shore.

“We just don’t have the answers and I feel helpless,” said her mother, Jessica Benjamin. “She wouldn’t disconnect herself to that extent from the world completely [...] Something’s not right.”

Friends and family say they are doing everything they can to get the word out.

They insist she has never run away before, adding the teen has been living at a youth centre for girls during the week.

“She’s somebody who spends, like any teenager, a lot of time in social and social media,” said Svetlana Chernienko, the teen’s aunt. “But she hasn’t been anywhere, and even when we look at her lifestyle in her life, nothing leads to something like this.”

Camila’s family says her phone appears to be off or disconnected, with messages unable to be delivered.

“Jessica [Camila’s mother] was telling me that she’s worried that somebody may have her, that an older man may have her because of everything that’s been going on in Montreal with these girls disappearing,” said Chernienko. “We’ve been hearing a lot about trafficking within Quebec and in Montreal and in Toronto. So, she’s very scared of that.”

Camila is described as 1.65m (5’5”) tall and weighing 58.9kg (130lb).

She is bilingual and has brown, curly hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a black coat with fur on the hood, black or brown UGG boots, pink leggings, but she may have changed into grey sweatpants, and carrying a pink duffle bag.

She has piercings on each side of her nose, a belly piercing and false lashes.

Kellia Nicolas

The 16-year-old was last seen leaving her home on Jan. 25 and has not been seen since.

“Those close to her fear for her safety, as she is said to be in bad company,” Laval police notes. “She could possibly be in Montreal or Laval. She travels on foot and by public transport.”

Nicolas speaks French and is 1.58m (5’2” tall) and weighs 49.9kg (110lb).

She has brown hair and eyes and a tattoo that says “Rut” on her forearm.

Amézyane Blanchette

The 17-year-old was last seen on Jan. 6 and could be in the area of Saint-Jérôme.

According to Longueuil police (SPAL), she is 1.68m (5’5”) tall and weighs 63kg (139lb) with brown hair, blue eyes and a black nose piercing.

She speaks French.

Gilles Ducharme-Robidoux

The 17-year-old went missing on Jan. 26 from Huberdeau, Que., about an hour-and-a-half north of Montreal.

He was last seen wearing a green camouflage winter coat, black pants, black Nike shoes and carrying a dark backpack with orange lines.

He may now be wearing a black winter coat with a grey fur hood.

He is described as 1.68m (5’5”) and 59kg (130lb) with long, curly brown hair and brown eyes.

He speaks French.

Wassim Bennabi

The 16-year-old was last seen in the morning of Jan. 18 in Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

He was wearing a black jacket and jogging pants.

He is of thin stature and 1.70m (5’7”) in height, with brown hair and eyes.

He speaks French.
