Quebec provincial police (SQ) arrested two people in connection with drug trafficking to jail Thursday afternoon.

Mathieu Hrycyk, 24, and Mélina Roy, 28, both from Terrebonne, were arrested in a vehicle in the Terrebonne area after making a drone delivery near the Sorel detention centre, the SQ said in a news release.

Roy was charged with possession and distribution of illegal cannabis and possession of a prohibited weapon at the Sorel courthouse Friday morning. She was released pending trial.

An arrest warrant was already issued for Hrycyk for drug-related offences in Quebec City and Montreal.

Police searched his home and seized nearly $6,000 cash, several drone controllers, a cell phone and a pound of hashish.

Hrycyk is scheduled to appear in court on April 7 on charges of possession and distribution of illicit cannabis, breach of a release order and possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
