Tesla car destroyed by fire in Longueuil

A Tesla car was engulfed in flames on Sunday night in Longueuil on Montreal’s South Shore.

Longueuil police (SPAL) was alerted to the fire on Saint-Charles Street West at 2:30 a.m.

Officers say the vehicle is a total loss.

“The SPAL is not yet in a position to confirm whether a criminal act was involved, but the theory has not been ruled out,” said spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre. “An investigation by the SPAL is underway to determine the cause of the event and to clarify the circumstances.”

There have been no arrests, and there were no reported injuries.

Tesla has been the target of protests around the world since owner Elon Musk’s affiliation with Donald Trump’s administration.
