Don’t get used to the sunny days; Montreal is set to get hit with snow this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to range between 3 and 7 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday during the day, but are forecast to drop below zero on Friday night.

“A low pressure system from the American Midwest will reach the Great Lakes on Friday. This low will track up toward Lake Ontario on Saturday morning,” Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said in a special weather statement. “This system could produce significant snowfall amounts to the north of its track, primarily along a corridor stretching from the Témiscamingue toward the Eastern Townships, including Montreal.”

The special statement includes the following areas:

  • Montreal
  • Laval - Vaudreuil
  • Valleyfield - Beauharnois
  • Mont-Orford
  • Lake Memphrémagog
  • Sherbrooke

ECCC adds that snow could change to ice pellets.

“There is still some uncertainty regarding the track of this low. Snowfall amounts over the province of Quebec will vary depending on this track,” it notes.

The forecast is calling for snow to turn to rain on Sunday and Monday before clearing up on Tuesday.
