Snow on the way to Montreal this weekend

Those in the Montreal area can prepare for a dusting of snow this weekend.

A system moving toward the region from the west is expected to bring cloudy skies on Friday night.

The mercury could hit an overnight low of -9 C, though it could feel like -14 with the wind chill.

Light snow is expected to start by midday Saturday. Meanwhile, a daytime high of 1 C could bring those in the area some brief relief from the cold.

On Saturday night, the mercury is expected to return to below freezing with a low of -13 C.

Sunday could then bring Montrealers a mixed bag of conditions - including sun, clouds and roughly 2 centimetres of snow.

The daytime high and nighttime lows for Sunday are -9 C and -16, respectively.

Sunshine is then expected to start next week.
