Montreal’s Botanical Garden reopens greenhouses after renovations

After more than a year of renovations, Montreal’s Botanical Garden’s 10 exhibition greenhouses have reopened.

After more than a year of renovations, the 10 exhibition greenhouses at Montreal’s Botanical Garden have reopened.

The work was necessary after a pane of glass fell.

“We are so excited. I mean, it’s an important part of our mission to be transmitting to the public and to offer this incredible biodiversity to the public,” said Botanical Garden director Josée Bellemare.

The Botanical Garden is nearly 100 years old and many of the greenhouses date back to the 1950s.

“Because it was not the first incident, we decided to preventively close the greenhouses so that we could inquire and see what would be the best solution,” said Bellemare.

They tested various options and chose to install a metallic mesh underneath most of the glass.

“I’m so proud of how it turned out,” she said.

There are free family activities all throughout April.
