Man, 20, arrested in Saint-Constant on child pornography charges

Quebec provincial police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Saint-Constant in connection with alleged child pornography offences.

Pascal Rolland was arrested Wednesday by investigators with the Sûreté du Québec’s Internet Child Sexual Exploitation unit.

He appeared the same day at the Longueuil courthouse.

Rolland faces charges related to possession of child sexual abuse material and accessing child sexual abuse material, police said.

Investigators also carried out a search of his residence in Saint-Constant, where they seized computer equipment that will be analyzed as part of the investigation.

The Sûreté du Québec’s specialized investigations unit includes experts in cybercrime and online child exploitation, and works in collaboration with the RCMP and municipal police forces across the province.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the suspect or his activities to contact the Sûreté du Québec’s criminal information centre at 1-800-659-4264.

The public can also report suspected online sexual exploitation of minors through Cybertip.ca.
