Convicted murderer will not appeal life sentence for slaying wife and children

The convicted murderer who was sentenced to life in prison in the killing of her wife and two children in 2022 will not appeal the sentence.

Mohamad Al Ballouz was arrested in 2022 for killing Synthia Bussières and their two sons, five-year-old Eliam and two-year-old Zac.

Al Ballouz now identifies as a woman and goes by the name Levana. She was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 25 years.

The deadline to request an appeal expired, and Al Ballouz will spend the next 25 years in prison.

“There is always the possibility of submitting a request for an extension of the appeal deadline,” the Quebec Crown prosecution office told Noovo Info.

Al Ballouz is currently serving a life sentence in a men’s prison, despite identifying as a woman at trial and was held at a women’s prison during that time.
