Residents in southwest Quebec woke up Tuesday morning to a solid spread of snow on the ground.

Spring may have sprung but that doesn’t mean Montrealers will be scrapping scrapers for at least a day.

Residents in southwest Quebec woke up Tuesday morning to a solid spread of snow on the ground and Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a weather alert about snowfall.

The original warning called for 10 to 15 centimetres overnight, but later warnings did not repeat calls for that much snow.

The advisory applies to the following regions:

  • Longueuil - Varennes area,
  • Montréal Island area,
  • Châteauguay - La Prairie area,
  • Vaudreuil area,
  • Valleyfield - Beauharnois area,
  • Mont-Orford - Lake Memphrémagog area,
  • Sherbrooke area.

Environment Canada says that the snow should let up around midnight and reach highs of one degree Celsius on Wednesday.
