Windsor police officers have arrested a 25-year-old man after a woman was shot near downtown.
Officers responded to a report of a person with a firearm at a residence in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive East shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
Officers say when they arrived on scene, they located a female victim with a gunshot wound to an arm.
The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers completed a preliminary investigation and found a spent shell casing as well as damage consistent with a bullet hole within a residence. Officers say they also identified the suspect, who had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Just before 5:30 a.m., officers located and arrested William Dessureault, 25, at a home in the 200 block of Crawford Avenue.
He has been charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Discharging a firearm being reckless as to the life or safety of another person
- Pointing a firearm
- Failure to comply with release order
Members of the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation and believe this the incident was targeted.
