Weather alerts issued for much of Midwestern Ontario

Many counties in Midwestern Ontario are under various storm watches and warnings Sunday night.

Huron, Perth, and Southern Bruce counties are under a snow squall warning as Environment Canada projects an estimated 15 to 25 centimetres of snowfall.

Environment Canada reminds of near zero visibility in heavy snowfall and blowing snow.

Lake effect snow is expected to quickly develop off Lake Huron Sunday night. The squalls could continue into Monday.

Grey, Northern Wellington, and Northern Bruce counties are all under a snow squall watch. It’s possible these areas could see 30 to 60 centimetres of snow and near zero visibility.

This storm system is expected to begin Monday morning, continuing into Tuesday.

Southern Wellington County is under a winter storm warning Sunday. Residents are expecting a winter storm continuing Sunday, bringing peak snowfall rates of two to three centimetres per hour.

Environment Canada said the winter storm warning is expected to end for Southern Wellington County Sunday night.

In all cases, it’s recommended to postpone all non-essential travel in the region.
