Basements and farm fields flooded while some roads were washed out, which as CTV London's Sean Irvine reports, nearly led to tragic results.

One person has been sent to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Middlesex Centre.

According to police, a section of McEwan Drive in the area of Nairn Road and Bear Creek has been washed out and a vehicle crashed around 6 a.m.

The driver was a 32 year old from Middlesex County and injuries were considered serious but non-life-threatening.

McEwen Drive will remain closed for an unknown amount of time as repairs are made to the road.

With the amount of rain that fell across the region Wednesday and overnight into Thursday, police are also urging people to be vigilant and cautious around bodies of water.
