Employees at the Bluewater Recycling Association in Huron Park could be hitting the picket line.

Unionized employees at the waste and recycling collection company had set a strike date of this Wednesday. However, the company submitted a contract offer on Monday and employees are voting on that new offer Tuesday, say union officials.

Officials with Teamsters Local 879, who represent approximately 65 Bluewater Recycling Association employees, say that if the workers do not accept the contract offer, they will hit the picket line on Friday at 6 p.m.

Vote results will be known Tuesday night.

Bluewater Recycling picks up waste and recycling from 23 municipalities in Huron, Perth, Lambton, and Middlesex Counties.

Employees say they’ve been without a new contract since Dec. 1, 2024.
