Special weather statement issued due to high winds

The big weather story Monday is the intense wind gusts in the London area.

The melt is on across southern Ontario, but the wind has picked up as well.

Temperatures have climbed above the freezing mark.

Daytime highs range anywhere from 3C to 5C Monday afternoon.

“The big weather story has been the intense wind gusts at the London airport approaching 70 kilometers per hour,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Bruce and Grey County due to strong wind gusts up to 80 km/h.

Heading into the late afternoon and evening, the winds will be winding down becoming light by midnight.

The three-day forecast for Tuesday includes a chance of light drizzle through the afternoon.

“We could see some peaks of sunshine, but mainly cloudy conditions on the mild side, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,” said Atchison.

There’s a chance of nighttime rain on Wednesday and 3C on Thursday. Overcast conditions with a 30 per cent chance of rain or snow.
