Wind chill still a factor in Friday forecast, sunshine on the weekend

With no watches or warnings in effect, flurries remain in the forecast with sunshine on the way for Saturday.

“As we head into the weekend, we are expecting fairly calm conditions,” said CTV London weather specialist Reta Ismail. “We do have an upper level through lingering over the Great Lakes bringing in a bit more cloud cover than we’d like, but there is high pressure to the South and that means a little bit of sunshine into the weekend.”

There could still be some local blowing snow in parts of the region, lasting through the early afternoon.

If you’re sick of the precipitation, good news, “We are expecting to remain dry tonight,” assured Ismail.

The wind chill still playing a big factor in temperatures, “Our temperatures still on the colder side, ranging between -3 to about -10, real feel about five degrees colder than that,” warned Ismail.

There is cloud cover expected to continue to blanket the region for most of Friday.

“We do break into a little bit of sunshine in the afternoon on your Saturday,” assured Ismail. “In terms of moisture, not a lot in this forecast. At best, we could pick up a trace of snow on Sunday as a weak low pressure system passes through your next 7 days.”

On Saturday, we can expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -4, but wind chill making it feel like -20.

Heading into early next week, the good news is that a warmup is on the horizon (relatively speaking). “As we head into next week, you could see our temperatures above the freezing mark,” said Ismail.

There is the potential for rain and mixed precipitation as those temperatures dip into the positives early next week.

Sunday: Cloudy. High minus 3.

Monday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. High plus 3.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High plus 4.
