London’s unemployment rate falls while provincial rate rises

London’s unemployment rate dropped significantly last month.

According to Stats Canada, the jobless rate fell to 5.9 per cent in March, down from 6.6 per cent the previous month.

Our region added roughly 2,200 jobs – a seventh consecutive month of growth.

Nationally, the economy shed 33,000 jobs, pushing that rate up to 6.7 per cent.

It was 6.6 per cent in February.

Ontario’s rate also increased from 7.3 per cent to 7.5 per cent.
