Josh Morgan responds to U.S. trade tariffs

London, Ont. Mayor Josh Morgan is responding to U.S. trade tariffs put in place by Donald Trump.

"President Trump’s decision to launch a trade war against our country will be harmful to London, and Canada at large," read Morgan’s statement. “Since news of the tariffs emerged, I have been working closely with a variety of partners to ensure #TeamLondon is pulling in the same direction, and doing all we possibly can to protect our local economy.”

Among the steps being taken locally, Morgan said he plans to bring a motion to the next meeting of city council, “To ensure our buying decisions and procurement policies at the City of London prioritize Canadian products and services over American counterparts. ”

Morgan said he will be traveling to Washington, D.C. on Feb. 11 with Premier Doug Ford, and other Canadian premiers, to meet with U.S. Senators, American Mayors, and business leaders to discuss the impacts of tariffs on both sides of the border.
