Armed robbery on Saugeen First Nation leads to increased police

There’s an increased police presence on Saugeen First Nation following an attempted armed robbery.

In a social media post, Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation released a statement, saying an armed robbery took place near Tuggy’s Convenience Store.

“We can provide that there was an attempted armed robbery, and can confirm that there have been no injuries reported at this time,” read the Facebook post.

“As stated, there will be an increased police presence, including an emergency response team and a canine unit as they search for an individual.”

As of 3:40 p.m., one person had been taken into custody.

The post also asked anyone in the area to drive safely and follow direction of any officers.
