The Hope in Land expo is on at the Western Fair District Saturday, with the goal of giving everyone the opportunity to participate in initiatives that create a climate-resilient future.

The event works to celebrate and connect gardeners, land stewards, businesses, and other leaders who love the land. With over 50 exhibitors, speakers, wildlife shows and more, the event offered an opportunity to take a step back and think about what you can do for the planet in your own community.

“Hope in the Land shows how we can give back to the land. Attendees turn ‘death by a thousand cuts’ into ‘hope by a thousand hands.’ We welcome everyone who wants to plant a seed in the spirit and practice of reconciliation because the seeds we plant now will shape our future,” said Michelle Kanter, CCC’s Executive Director. “Attendees took home hope, energy, know-how, and seeds to grow an extraordinary gift for many generations.”

Put on by the Carolinian Canada Coalition, the event takes place in the heart of the Carolinian zone - which is home to 850 rare and endangered species, and one quarter of Canadians.

“Hope in the Land Expo is helping to nurture reciprocal relationships among diverse yet connected communities,” said Sam Whiteye, Indigenous Leadership Director of CCC. “Through community we can deepen our understanding of our shared responsibilities as stewards of the land. Hope in the Land fosters hope for youth, hope for healing the land, and hope for a resilient future.”
