Freezing drizzle advisory in effect

Temperatures are set to plunge, and all that moisture we've been getting could turn icy. CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison has your forecast details.

The icy chill will continue to follow us into the end of the week, with some snow, freezing rain and ice pellets projected in parts of the region this morning.

There is a freezing drizzle advisory in effect for London, Parkhill, St, Thomas, Aylmer, eastern Elgin County, Strathroy, Komoka, western Middlesex County, Watford and eastern Lambton County, including the Pinery.

“The heavy active weather will come to an end and by the afternoon,” assured CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Winds will be picking up… and that will lead to some accumulating snow in parts of midwestern Ontario.”

Parts of northern Huron County could see upwards of 6 centimeters of snowfall.

“Friday we’re back into a mix of sun and cloud – [and the] temperature drops down Friday back into some icy wind chills and then snow moving into the region on Saturday,” said Atchison.

Mild temperatures will be around to start out the day before plunging to colder and more seasonal temperatures in the afternoon which are set to stay into the weekend.

Police are warning of snow and ice-covered roads. Drivers are being asked to slow down and reduce speed.

“I’m still seeing motorist driving out here like it’s a nice warm morning. It is not... we’re just asking people to clean off their entire motor vehicle of snow and ice... reduce your speed and leave enough time, room and distance, between you and other vehicles,” said OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.
