Lightning is being blamed for a fire that destroyed a large steel shed north of London.

The blaze broke out on Elginfield Road (Hwy. 7), between Granton Line and Clarke Road.

At the scene, Granton Fire Chief Steve Toews told CTV News his crews were alerted by a 911 call around 10 p.m.

They were quickly joined by firefighters from Lucan.

Toews said the blaze was challenging to extinguish as crews fought to get water under the steel roofing.

Seven vehicles and 16 firefighters remained on scene until 2 a.m.

No one was hurt.
