Cooler conditions on the way heading into the weekend

Reta Ismail previews the weekend forecast for the London area

Plenty of sunshine will carry us through the rest of Friday, but noticeably cooler conditions with high pressure in play.

According to CTV London’s Reta Ismail, this means means clear conditions heading into Friday afternoon, but the next system is being tracked.

“It is a big low pressure system and it’s going to push through inthe next 24 hours bringing with it a couple rounds of rainfall,” she said. “Clouds will increase later this evening, first round of rain moves in overnight tonight, with some embedded thunderstorm activity along the northern shores of Lake. Erie.”

Tonight will be mainly cloudy, and winds shifting later this evening as that system moves in.

Here’s a look at the rest of the forecast

Friday: Increasing cloudiness this afternoon. Wind northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. High 12. UV index 6 or high.

Friday night: Cloudy. Periods of rain beginning late this evening. Amount 5 to 10 mm. Wind becoming east 20 km/h this evening. Low 6.

Saturday: Periods of rain ending in the afternoon then cloudy. Amount 5 mm. Wind east 20 km/h becoming light in the morning. Wind becoming northwest 20 gusting to 40 in the afternoon. High 14.

Sunday: Cloudy. High plus 5.

Monday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. High plus 2.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High plus 1.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 8.
