The Thames River in London was expected to peak Thursday evening.

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has issued a flood alert, with officials saying the watershed is running “fast and high.”

The UTRCA said some parts of the watershed have received as much as 55 millimetres of rainfall since Wednesday morning.

Water levels will remain elevated throughout the weekend. The UTRCA says it is operating its flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock Conservation Areas to reduce downstream flooding.
