A Kitchener man is facing multiple charges after a stolen vehicle was involved in multiple crashes in Guelph.

Emergency services were called to the Gosling Gardens area just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. When Guelph Police Service officers arrived, witnesses said they had seen a silver Cadillac speeding through the neighbourhood. The driver blew through a stop sign and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the road and hit a recycling cart. The cart smashed into a parked car, dislodging some body work. Pieces of the cart also hit a home, causing minor damage.

The Cadillac continued on, hitting two vehicles parked in a driveway, extensively damaging both, before slamming into and uprooting a tree. The Cadillac rolled over and ended up on the sidewalk on the passenger’s side.

Witnesses said they saw a man with a bloody face get out of the vehicle and run into a backyard.

Officers, with the help of Police Service Dog Echo, tracked the suspect down. They said he was hiding under a tarp at the time.

The suspect was arrested and taken to a Hamilton hospital with minor injuries.

While police were searching the vehicle, they said they found used drug paraphernalia, prompting them to ask for blood to be taken for further analysis.

Investigators also determined the Cadillac involved in the crash had been stolen from Waterloo Region earlier that morning.
