Almost $50K in scratch off lottery tickets stolen from Guelph store

The Guelph Police Service has released new images as they continue to investigate the theft of almost $50,000 worth of scratch off lottery tickets.

The theft happened at a business on Woodlawn Road West. Investigators believe someone pried open the doors of the shop to get inside. Footage from a security camera shows them leaving the store with two reusable shopping bags full of tickets.

Although it was reported to police on Dec. 16, they believe the theft happened sometime in the previous 24 hours because the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said someone tried to redeem one of the stolen tickets at a business in Waterloo the day before.

Investigators believe a man, featured in the newly released pictures, may have information that could help with the ongoing investigation.
