Highlights from KW Titans and Sudbury Five playoff game

The KW Titans took a 1-0 lead in the Basketball Super League (BSL) finals, beating the Sudbury Five 113-104 at The Aud.

The game was close throughout, but the Titans came out of the first quarter with a 30-24 lead and never looked back. The teams needs two more win to take their first-ever league title.

Tyshon Pickett of the Titans was named player of the game, posting a 27/5/2 stat line while shooting 13 for 15 from the field.

During a post-game press conference, Pickett spoke about staying composed in the big moments and what’s needed to close out a championship run.

“Honestly, we haven’t done nothing yet,” he said. “That’s the mindset. [We have] two more games to get and we got to stay laser-focused… and once we do that, we’re good.”

Titans Head Coach Cliff Clinkscales, who was just named BSL Coach of the Year, mirrored Pickett’s sentiment, saying the team took care of business in all facets of the game and he and his squad viewed it like any other match.

The Titans are looking to extend their lead on Sunday. Game 2 begins at 3 p.m. at The Aud.

If they can keep them momentum up and sweep the Five, the team will take home the BSL championship Tuesday in Sudbury.
