The Kitchener Rangers have taken game 2 against the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League playoff series, with a dominating 6-1 win Sunday afternoon.
The Blueshirts started off strong with a lead of 3-1 in the first period, with the Rangers’ Jack Pridham scoring two goals in under a minute. The Firebirds’ Nathan Aspinall cut the lead in half at the 14:15 mark, before Rangers’ Andrew Vermeulen answered with another goal two minutes later.
In the second period, Rangers’ Carson Campbell and Jakub Chromiak each scored a goal of their own less than a minute apart, before Trent Swick scored his own unanswered goal 16:41 into the third and final period, finishing off the game with a five point lead.
This gives the Rangers’ a 2-0 lead against the Firebirds in the series so far.
The two teams will face off once again for game 3 on Tuesday at Flint, Mich.’s Dort Financial Center. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
