The federal election is taking place on April 28 and electors can now register, check their registration, or update their address online.
Elections Canada said in a news release Wednesday electors can use the Online Voter Registration Service to participate in the democratic process.
“We encourage electors to use our Online Voter Registration Service. By registering, checking, or updating their information early, electors will be sure to get a voter information card. The card gives electors all the information they need to plan their voting experience,” said chief electoral officer Stéphane Perrault in a news release Wednesday.
Elections Canada has also shared the following checklist to vote in the elections:
- You must be registered at your current address.
- You can register at the polls just before voting but are encouraged to register or check the registration early to make the voting process easier and ensure you get a voter information card.
- You can also contact your local Elections Canada office or call 1-800-463-6868 for more information.
Registered electors will receive a voter information card by mail from Elections Canada.
“Most Canadians who are eligible to vote are already registered and should receive a voter information card in the mail by Friday, April 11, 2025,” reads the release.
If you do not receive a card, or do not want to wait for it, you can visit elections.ca to find out where to vote and add your postal code in the Voter Information Service box.
Registration will remain open until 6 p.m. April 22.
Advance voting will take place during the Easter weekend from April 18 to 21, where voting stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Elections Canada is an independent agency that reports directly to Parliament.
