Red Deer drug bust: Eastside trio charged with trafficking, weapons offences

Three Red Deer residents are in jail after a police investigation at an eastside home resulted in several drug trafficking and weapons charges.

RCMP used a warrant on Friday to search a home in the Devonshire neighbourhood and arrested two men aged 43 and 39, and a 39-year-old woman.

The police search turned up a loaded handgun, a shotgun with ammunition, 22 grams of fentanyl, 133 grams of cocaine, 329 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 100 mL of GHB, approximately three cartons of unstamped cigarettes, and $12,190 in cash. The handgun had been reported stolen in Blackfalds 13 kilometres away.

The 43-year-old man and the woman each face four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possessing property from crime, as well as several weapons charges among others.

The 39-year-old man is charged with four counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of property from crime and possessing cigarettes not marked for sale.

All three are next due to appear in a Red Deer court on Thursday.
